♕ 002 // Action for Goldenrod (Circus)
-ere.
[Beast, for anyone who remembers her first broadcast some time ago, seems to have gotten the hang of the PokéGear, holding it so that it better shows her from the shoulder up, outside Eve's Garden Circus in Goldenrod.]
Reckon that's workin' now. Ye can 'ear me an' such.
[She looks. Irritated? Stern? Strained? Maybe it's just her face.]
Been 'ere longer 'n I care t'be, but apparently that isn' about to change, so I'll introduce myself proper.
Name's Beast. Animal tamer by trade. [She snorts a bit derisively before muttering under her breath-] Though looks like everyone 'n their brother is claimin' t'be the same in this place.
Any 'ow, I figured to thank the people who tried to talk t'me when I first arrived. Ye'll forgive I weren' exactly the 'appiest woman at the time, seein' as I think takin' that sort a arrival calmly might mean yer off in the 'ead.
Didn' get most a yer names, but I appreciate what ye done.
[Which is the closest she'll come to apologizing for how she treated some of you. Take it or leave it.]
That said, 'll be takin' up at the circus time bein'. 'd like t' 'ave a few words with anyone who considers themself a part a that. In person, preferably. This gear'll do if yer away.
Good day t'ye.
[Look at that- so polite.]

But she stalks out the door, and keeps going- she won't stop until they're out of earshot from bystanders and shops.
Only then does she whirl on him.]
'ow do ye know about the manor? Talk.
no subject
I wasn't the one assigned to going to the manor, mind... so... I honestly don't know too much. That goes to my senior, Mister Sutcliffe. Wager you prolly didn't meet him... doubt Mister Spears mentioned him either.
[ There was a sigh though as he ruffles his hair. ]
But yeah. I was too knackered from what me and Mister Spears had to do that I didn't get too many details from Mister Sutcliffe. Only time I met that Bassy he'd been going on about was when I caught up to him and that Ciel lad on the Campagnia.
no subject
[And who was Bassy? What was he talking about, a demon? Beast's mind was going about a mile a minute, except the only things bouncing around in her head didn't make a lick of sense.
Reapers. Demons. The names of men she didn't know. The Phantomhive Manor. This man knowing Suit. Him asking her what the last thing she remembered was. Him noting she hadn't been at "the manor", which had to be Father's, then, didn't it-]
An' what the 'ell did ye get up to with Suit, then?
no subject
[ He'll take a pause to fold his arms behind his head a second. Give him a moment. It's been a good few months for him, after all. ]
Best I explain what goes on behind the scenes a bit then. See, we're assigned the souls that need reaping and when the time of death comes 'round, we pop over and pick up you lot. There was a big job that night and only about five of us left in Dispatch, y'see. Mister Sutcliffe was the one assigned to pick up whoever was going to die at the Phantomhives. Mister Spears-- er, Suit, that is... he and I were at a much bigger job. Prolly over a hundred or so there that night.

But the glare wavers.
There wasn't any way he could be telling the truth- reapers didn't exist, after all. Demons didn't exist.
- But then how did he know they were heading to the Phantomhive manor? How did he know about Father's manor?]
... Who died that night, then? If yer a reaper, then.
[There was a very unsteady edge to her voice, like she was daring him to say names of people she knew and would immediately laugh it off... and yet.
And yet.]

[ There's a look though, one that says he's considering it... thinking about it... trying to figure out how much he could tell and what he could tell. ]
Could tell you... had to feel sorry for all of them. Kids, I mean... fair lot of them.
[ He's not too keen about telling her about Joker, really. Maybe it'd be best not to tell. ]
no subject
I'd take a second an' really think about what sort a constraints ye feel keep ye from tellin'.
[Is that... a threat?
(Yes).]
no subject
Unfortunately, when you're in the business long as he has... there's a measure of desensitization that happens over the years. ]
Listen... s'just the principle of the thing. Can't give you any details as to who died and how and when. S'just not done, is all.
no subject
[And she didn't seem to give a damn about personal space, either, because she shoved her pointer finger at his chest quite hard.]
I'm tellin' ye to speak up now.
no subject
And m'saying I can't, love, s'much as I'd love to. It's been a bleeding while for me, really.
[ There's a sigh though as he ruffles his hair. ]
Didn't think the two cases'd be connected, really... I mean, the Phantomhive Manor and the place with Old Man Kelvin're pretty far off...
no subject
She glanced around even as a hand reached for her whip, but. No. There were still people about, people who might see, who might tell.
She put her hand down, balled them in to fists and clenched her jaw.]
Then let's 'ope fer yer sake ye can recover that memory soon.
no subject
M'afraid I can only tell you what I know. Apart from the urchins... there was a bloke in a wheelchair... some other poor sod...
Ciel and Bassy made it out in once piece though. Course, m'not too surprised at this point.
no subject
"Some other poor sod"?]
- What about that poor sod?
