[Beast, for anyone who remembers her first broadcast some time ago, seems to have gotten the hang of the PokéGear, holding it so that it better shows her from the shoulder up, outside Eve's Garden Circus in Goldenrod.]

Reckon that's workin' now. Ye can 'ear me an' such.

[She looks. Irritated? Stern? Strained? Maybe it's just her face.]

Been 'ere longer 'n I care t'be, but apparently that isn' about to change, so I'll introduce myself proper.

Name's Beast. Animal tamer by trade. [She snorts a bit derisively before muttering under her breath-] Though looks like everyone 'n their brother is claimin' t'be the same in this place.

Any 'ow, I figured to thank the people who tried to talk t'me when I first arrived. Ye'll forgive I weren' exactly the 'appiest woman at the time, seein' as I think takin' that sort a arrival calmly might mean yer off in the 'ead.

Didn' get most a yer names, but I appreciate what ye done.

[Which is the closest she'll come to apologizing for how she treated some of you. Take it or leave it.]

That said, 'll be takin' up at the circus time bein'. 'd like t' 'ave a few words with anyone who considers themself a part a that. In person, preferably. This gear'll do if yer away.

That's pretty cool. I bet with that kinda skill you could have this whole place under your thumb if you wanted to. I mean, I wake up with a walking volcano and seven months later he still doesn't listen to me! What a jerk, huh?

[But she speaks with an odd fondness in her tone. She may not get along with Diet Cola or approve of his activities, but there have definitely been times she's considered herself lucky to have him around.]

I'm not really made for raising animals or doing circus-y things, anyway. I'm a ~~[coded]~~ born racer!

Even though Joker's here? says Ruskin. [He puts on the voice he uses for her, plus a teasing tone.]

[She shrugs.] That's all right, the first day is always the hardest to deal with. Given how much the clown gets around, you probably had a lot of people talking to you.

That's a relief, isn't it? S'not so bad here... bit of a holiday, as I've considered.

[ He's just going to go ahead and wheel his bike to the parking racks of a quaint little cafe, something by the roadside. ]

Now then, wager you said something about Mister Spears and I working for the peelers?

I might be able to drop by. It's just gonna be tough getting to Goldenrod from Cerulean.

[Still, he should probably introduce myself. So, have a quick wave and a soft smile.]

Anyway, name's Riku. Got a couple Pokémon on board for the circus. Like my identity-confused Weavile.

[It's said with a chuckle. Good thing Slash isn't in the room right now, or he'd probably be getting an earful.]

An' what does that 'ave t'do with anythin'?

[Besides, you know. A lot.]

A walkin' volcano? That somethin' from yer... "World", 'r somethin'?

[Yeah, Beast actually... doesn't know what a volcano is. Oops. But... she definitely doesn't mind this kid so far. She's wary of youngsters these days, but this girl seems to still have some sort of honesty in her- unlike most kids in her life.]

Racer? Racin' what?

More'n I can remember, rightly. Most shoven' animals in my face.

[Beast herself doesn't have a Pokemon or Pokeball in sight. - Give her time.]

Well that'd be a question I pursue.

[Not that they don't hire people unused to work at Noah's Ark Circus- but it's somethin' you look in to.]

If yer far out, ye needn' bother. Though I expect a greetin' in person like proper people next time ye are close.

[She's not got the geography down yet, but.]

Nah. I met him here. [Unfortunately, Vanellope's just pretty sure Beast is talking about Camerupt in general.] I mean, yeah where I'm from there's this level with a volcano, but s'far as I know no other place has got any that stomp around.

[Prepare yourself for this little girl looking even more hyped.]

Karts! I even built my own, once! Wish I could find one here, but once I get the hang of my horse, I bet I'll be the best racer on her, too.

Well, getting there isn't the problem. It's getting back that'd be tough.

[Mostly because he hasn't trained his Alakazam to teleport to Cerulean yet. New locations are kinda tough, but eh. Maybe when this earthquake business slows down.]

So, when you say animal tamer, are we talking the kind that uses whips, chairs, and hoops?

[Classic lion tamer image there, though who's to say if it's even accurate?]

Well, nice t'see some people view it as a such.

[Though her tone made it clear she didn't at all, and found it rather foolish people seemed okay with being here at all.

At his question, though, she shook her head.]

That Suit never said 'e were a peeler, but- some sort a government fella. By the look a 'im I always figured 'im fer a desk man.

[Except if he had been with the constabulary-]

[Beast doesn't get how that works so she's going to go with her version of "smile and nod".]

That we are. Only type I'm familiar with 'fore whatever the 'ell this place 'as goin'.

Right... But what the 'ell is a "volcano" in the first place?

[Even the word sounds funny. "Volcano".

"Karts" is another word that almost escapes her. Carriages? Carts to her are like... For mining or transporting cargo you can't race them. Carriage racing probably? Certainly not those motor wagons- Beast had only seen one her whole life, and it was far too expensive for a kid to have access to one-]

What's a kid yer age doin' racin'? Ye need money?

Must've taken a lot of adjusting. How're you holding up so far?

[After all, Joker said it himself: most animals can't breathe fire in other worlds.]

You don't know what a volcano is? [She shakes her head in disbelief, but it lacks the insult of disappointment.] It's like... This mountain with really hot stuff in it, and sometimes it explodes! It's pretty cool, but you don't wanna be close to one when it happens.

[Vanellope laughs at that. Technically it was true, but she'd needed the money to participate in the race.]

It's fun! Everyone back in Sugar Rush is either a racer or a fan of racing, so once I get back there? Smooth sailing. [She hoped anyway.] And until then? This place is cool. I like it.

The Pokemon? Yeah, they're kinda everywhere, but you get used to them.

[A pause, she said she was a tamer, right?]

I don't...know a lot about circuses, I actually try to avoid them most of the time, but I think you'll find that you won't have to put yourself at risk trying to tame Pokemon. That's what your starter is for.

... Don' 'ave one a them in London, that's fer sure.

[A exploding hot mountain? Sounds like something out of one of those sailor's travel tales. - And considering those often contained mermaids, she doubted their veracity.]

[She figures it's a kid thing- that everyone the girl idolized was a racer or something, they can't all be racers, right?]

The risk is what makes it appealin' fer the crowd. If there's no risk I might get my 'ead bit off, no one'll pay money fer that.

[More like, she's not reacting well to Pokemon...

That question, though. If she were being honest, it was "because we needed one". "Because Father said it suited me". But this is a kid. And it was too personal.]
